Smith Family India Adoption
Anaka
,
After three biological children, we both felt the Lord leading us to add a 4th child to our family. We considered adoption at that point, but very easily became pregnant with our 4th. During week 13 of the pregnancy, we found out that we were carrying a little girl with Down Syndrome. We quickly came to believe that the Lord was going to give us the grace to deal with a special need that we had feared before, but we were so anxious to meet and get to know our baby as exactly who God created her to be. When we lost her at 18 weeks, we knew that her short time on Earth had completely changed how we thought about special needs and whether or not we could "handle" them. We didn't think twice about trying to add to our family biologically any more. We knew that we would be adopting a child with special needs.
Our whole family is so excited to be in the process of adoption our 5th child from India! We don't know who she is yet, but we are planning on a girl who is 2-4 years old. We will be submitting to the Indian government to be placed on the referral waiting list as soon as our United States Citizenship and Immigration paperwork has been approved, which will hopefully be around the beginning of November. At that point we will need to have raised $5000. Then, in order to be matched with a child, either off of the special needs waiting list or through a referral, we will need $6000. That could be very quickly after submitting to India or many months. We are working with Nightlight Christian Adoptions who runs this site. So, except for a small processing fee, all the money you give will go to the adoption. We hope to have raised the $11,000 by the end of the year. Would you pray and consider if God is leading you to help get us get to that point? We can't wait to find out who she will be and finally get her home next year, Lord willing
