Millers are Adopting
Christy and Michael
unknown, North Carolina
Thank you for stopping by to hear our story!
As a young girl, I remember many times when adoption was on my mind. Early in mine and Michael’s marriage, we had adoption on our minds as well. We decided to start expanding our family after seven years of marriage and became pregnant with our daughter, Haven, 2 ½ years later. She is a bright, fun, animal-loving girl. We knew God intended to bless our family with more children, however, we needed time to heal after a traumatic pregnancy and delivery. Adoption was mentioned several times during these years, but we just did not feel ready to move forward. Around 3 years after Haven was born, we were surprised to learn that we were pregnant. Our beautiful son, Emerson, was stillborn at 20 weeks. We were devastated, AND God provided such an amazing support system that walked alongside us during that devastating year.
Honestly, we cannot fully describe what happened next. Our desire to adopt only deepened. We felt it in our bones. While adoption had always been in the back of our minds, we had never before felt this degree of intensity around adopting. God was telling us: IT’S TIME!!!
We researched and researched various types of adoption: foster to adopt, domestic adoption, and international adoption. We also spoke with a number of families who had adopted in a variety of ways. God moved and led our hearts to adopting from Africa. God has opened so many doors for us to move forward in this Journey. We cannot count how many times God has reminded us that He has called us to adopt from Africa, and we have no doubt He will continue to do so.
We have completed the tedious and time-consuming process of completing our international home-study. Our Dossier (significant packet of paperwork) is registered and we are waiting to be matched. We will either be matched with a boy, between the ages of 0-5.
For those who have a desire, we are creating this website as a safe and secure way for others to learn about and follow our story. We also wanted to provide a safe, secure, tax-deductible way for individuals to provide financial support throughout our Journey if they feel led to. Above all, we need your prayers during this journey.
