McKinney Snowflakes

Our story begins with secondary infertility; something that wasn't even on our radar when we began trying to have a second child. After a year of waiting and lots of tests, it was recommended that we try IUI. We knew medical intervention was a viable option but God has led our hearts to adoption instead. Specifically, embryo adoption.

Many couples, after going through IVF, have frozen embryos left over that they are unable to implant themselves. Instead of allowing them to be destroyed or donating them to research, many couples are choosing the chance of life for their embryos. To give them this chance, they are allowing them to be adopted. We believe that life begins at conception and that each of these embryos is a human life that inherently has worth and deserves this chance that their parents want to give them. Children born through embryo adoption are often known as Snowflakes.

Our journey of adoption begins with a home study. After completion, we will be mutually matched with a placing family. The placing family will be allowed to view our profile and, if they would be comfortable placing with us, we will then be allowed the opportunity of taking on their embryos. Lara will then undergo the medical procedure to have them thawed and implanted and she will carry their pregnancy. We will likely be given more than one embryo since there is a chance one or more of them will not survive the process. However, we are committed to giving the chance of a full life to each one we adopt.
