After we were blessed with Elias, we weren't sure if we were going to have more children as we hadn't decided what we wanted life to look like in the future. After about a year we really knew that our family was not complete and we wanted to fill our house with joy, laughter and a sibling for our son to grow up with.

Well my body decided that it was not going to cooperate. I had entered early menopause and was running out of eggs.

I was devastated when I received that news and spent several days mourning and crying. It was a hard pill to swallow that I had just had a normal pregnancy and now it was virtually impossible for me to conceive again. HOW was this happening? My fertility doctor gave me a couple options; I could either use a donor egg or just keep trying and "hope" to have a cycle and get pregnant. In Vitro wasn't even an option really because it was very hard to know when there might be an egg to retrieve.

After lots of prayer I decided to ask my sister-in-law if she would consider donating. After much research on her part she regretfully declined as the risks to her body were not something she could put on her family. I of course understood but was still heart broken. I felt hopeless and empty.

Then a spark of light came when my sister-in-law told me "while I was doing my research, I did come across something that I think would be a wonderful option for you!" She was talking about embryo adoption. This is something I had never heard of before but it sounded amazing.

We had already talked about adoption but we didn't want to have to wait forever to be placed with a child. This would give me the opportunity to carry my adopted child?! To be able to build that bond with my adopted baby? Wow how amazing is that? On top of that we get the chance to give created embryos a chance at life that they may never get, and bonus we get to work with a Christian organization? I'm In!

So with that we have started the process of embryo adoption. We are working on our family profile which placing parents of these embryos will look at and choose the family they would like their remaining children to grow up with. There are of course many costs that come with any adoption. We will be doing some fundraising to help raise some of the money we need.  We are so blessed by any donation you may be able to spare to help us reach our goal.
