Many of you have walked with Elaine through the journey of her cancer diagnosis in her teens. Now, we invite you to walk with us through this next journey: Our Adoption Journey. We believe God has called us to pursue Embryo Adoption! 

Our Infertility Story

As many of you already know, Elaine received high-dose chemotherapy while in the hospital during her journey with cancer. As a result of the treatment, she was told that she has ovarian failure and that her body has a very low egg reserve, making it nearly impossible to have biological children. We knew this before we got married, and adoption has always been in our hearts. Over the past years, we have prayerfully pursued different options to grow our family. This journey has been filled with both hope and heartbreak as we have grieved the possibility of not having biological children of our own.

We believe the Lord is leading us to pursue embryo adoption. While this path is different from what we once imagined, we are still learning and trusting Him through this process. We are filled with hope and trust that God is faithfully directing our steps.

What is Embryo Adoption? 

Embryo adoption is the process of adopting embryos that have been created through IVF and are currently frozen in storage. Instead of discarding them or donating them to science, some IVF parents choose to donate those embryos to other families.

There are more than 1 million frozen embryos in storage currently. We believe these frozen embryos are waiting for someone to bring them life. We believe each embryo is a precious child, created in the image of God, and we feel deeply compelled to do what we can to bring life to a child through embryo adoption.

Through embryo adoption, we won’t be genetically related to the child, but Elaine can carry the baby. Allowing us to experience the joys and challenges of pregnancy, birth, and parenting. 

Each embryo transfer comes with at most a 50% chance of success. It’s not guaranteed that we will end up with a baby, but we can say that we know the Lord has a plan, and we put this journey in His hands. We would appreciate your prayer throughout this process. We’re moving forward with this process through a Christian agency called Nightlights, Snowflake embryo adoption program.

The Financial Phases of Embryo Adoption

The financial phases of the embryo adoption process.

• Application fee: $600 

• Home Study: $1,500-$2,000 (covering the home study, background checks, and the travel of the provider)

• Snowflake Program Fee: $8,500

• Travel to and from Fertility Clinic: $500-$1000 (The clinic that works with Nightlight is in CO, about 5 hours from our home.)

• Embryo Transfer: $4950

  • Estimated Total: $17,050 

**All funds raised will only be used for Embryo Adoption fees, not normal pregnancy costs.**

Through this adoption journey, our greatest prayer is that all glory would be given to God, no matter the outcome. Adoption is a beautiful picture of the gospel. Throughout Scripture, adoption points us to the story of salvation: Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins so that we could be adopted as sons and daughters into God's family.

This is deeply important to Soren and me because our greatest desire is that everyone would come to know Christ, who loves you and values you more than anyone ever could. As much as we already love our future child, our love will never compare to the steadfast love of our Heavenly Father.

We have seen that God uses grief, infertility, life, and even death to display His greatest act of love: Jesus willingly dying on the cross, conquering sin and death, and rising again—FOR YOU.

God has adopted us into His family through Christ so that we can share in the victory of His resurrection. What a joy and privilege it is that our adoption story can serve as a small reflection of His greater story of redemption. We hope that, through this journey, you will see the incredible love of our Father and come to know Him as your Savior.
