Changing the life of one Chinese girl
Lindsay and Daniel
Glendale, Arizona
Adopting one child won't change the world, but for that one child the world will change.
Since childhood, I have felt a calling to provide a loving home for a young orphaned Chinese girl. At 40 years old, the timing finally feels right. I have spent the past four years laying the groundwork to adopt; I purchased a home and changed careers to be able to accommodate starting a family. I also met the man of my dreams. On our first date, I shared my passion with Daniel, and it soon became OUR dream.
There are over 600,000 orphans living in China, 98% with special needs. Though the children in Chinese orphanages are well taken care of compared to other nations, malnutrition and the effects of institutionalization are prevalent. It is our goal to change the trajectory of at least one underprivileged child.
The journey of adoption is a long one. It starts with researching adoption agencies, getting fingerprinted, running background checks, medical clearances, and numerous home visits/interviews with a social worker. The social worker then writes a Homestudy report which has to be approved by the state before it can be sent to China and we wait to be matched with our little girl, which can take up to three years. We are at the point in the process of waiting several months for the Arizona courts to approve us. In the meantime, the majority of expenses must be paid. It costs about $40,000 to adopt internationally. To date, we have paid a little over $20,000 by way of our savings, selling items we no longer deem essential, and aggressively tightening our budget.
Daniel and I are using AdoptionBridge to help raise funds for a portion of the remaining expenses. We would like to humbly ask for your consideration in supporting the future of our little girl. We consider this not as raising money for our own benefit, but giving others the chance to change a child’s life. We are honored to have family and friends support us any way they can.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.

The only thing I am upset about is that Daniel dodges a bullet of having to change a diaper. Not thrilled about that. Otherwise, super happy for you two!

Unfortunately, the adoption process has been delayed due to COVID19. We had a fingerprint appointment at Immigration on 3/18, but that morning Immigration closed indefinitely due to the virus. As of yet, we haven't received any communication regarding rescheduling nor the status of our application.
Arizona Court approved us to adopt! We were told the process would take 1-4 months...it took only 8 days!
