Bringing Steven Home

More than two years ago, we saw the face of a precious little boy named Steven. An organization was pleading for prayers for him because he had a life-threatening condition. We prayed for him and made a small donation to help towards his surgery expenses. Then a few months later, we felt like God was calling us to another adoption. Not long after we realized this, we received an email update about him because we had made that one, small donation. He was instantly back on our hearts.

We checked with our agency to see if he had a family.  At that time, because of his repeated and life-threatening illnesses, the orphanage would not start his paperwork and he was unable to be adopted. Our agency informed the orphanage there was a family wanting to give this boy a home/family and encouraged them to begin his paperwork.  Weeks later, we were told they were finally going to start!  Months later, after being told they had started, we found out they actually had not. This was devastating. We truly felt that he was our son so we couldn't quite understand why this was happening.  But we trusted God!  

After MUCH prayer, we felt Him prompt us to call our agency and open ourselves back up to being matched. The same day we called to tell them of our difficult decision, they received the file of another precious little boy. That boy is our son, Bo! We can not imagine life without him. God’s timing was perfect in closing the door to Steven (we just didn't realize it was a temporary close), and opening it up for Bo. We had NO IDEA we would have TWO sons in addition to our three girls.

In February 2016, exactly two years after the initial conversation of Steven began {and another precious prayer for Steven from our oldest daughter}, we contacted the agency (for closure) and (SURPRISE!) found out he had not been adopted and his paperwork was almost ready.  We followed our hearts despite our fears, and began the process again to be ready when his paperwork was finally prepared. Getting that call on April 28th, that the agency had his file in their hands, was surreal. His timing, His will, and His plans, are so much better than our own.  So here we are, years later, working hard to bring Steven home. Thank you for following our journey!
