• OUR STORY •
Hi friends & Family!! If you are here reading this, thank you for stopping by in support!
Before we were married, we hoped and dreamed about the life we would build together. One of the biggest parts of that dream was the children we would add to our family. Like most couples in our shoes, we never imagined that our story to become parents would be hard. Our path leading to adoption has been a difficult process, but we have found refuge walking it with Jesus. We trust Him to show us the future He has written into our story, and are filled with joy and peace in "the waiting".
We first heard of embryo adoption about a month after we were married. (for more information: https://embryoadoption.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Fundamentals-of-Embryo-Adoption_client-provided_8-16-16.pdf)
I remember thinking it was the most beautiful choice for life. I was so excited about it I couldn’t wait for Eric to get home so I could share it with him. We had discussed adoption (traditional or international) during premarital counseling, and had both agreed we wanted it to be a part of our story after we had biological children. But this was a whole new path I felt God had laid before us! Fast forward into the months of waiting, the topic of embryo adoption continued to surface. We prayerfully brought it to the Lord again and again, and we kept feeling Him place on our hearts to “wait”. This spring in the midst of events that changed the world around us, we had the gift of time to “be still”. We felt God tell us it was time to pursue this path, and we couldn’t be more excited!
The last several months have been filled with applications and background checks, reading articles, watching webinars, so much paperwork, hunting down documents, building our family profile, and completing our home study. We have now entered the exciting phase of matching, where we will soon be connected to the sweet frozen lives that are meant to join our family! Just as our life stories show the redemptive love of Christ as we were adopted as sons and daughters, we feel embryo adoption is a beautiful redeeming way to give these little souls a chance to live the lives they were created for.
We originally did not plan on doing a fundraiser, but we wanted to give the opportunity to anyone who might want to come alongside and support us in this journey. Adoption is a beautiful gift, but it is costly. The adoption process will cost us roughly $12,000, with approximately $3000 to cover embryo transfer costs. We thought in addition to this, a T-shirt fundraiser would be a fun way to share our story and raise a little support to help towards these costs. If you would like a custom T-shirt, follow this link to bonfire: https://www.bonfire.com/mathews-adoption-journey/
If you purchase a shirt, we would love to have a picture of you wearing it to add to our “Adoption Story” book!
We are so grateful to each of you who has called, messaged, sent bits of hope, just listened to our hearts, or carried us in prayer during the last several months! Our deepest gratitude for lifting us up and supporting us during this exciting journey God has laid before us!
We are BLESSED to call you “our village”!
Love,
Lindsay & Eric
