Peterson, Party of Three!

Hi! We are J. and Mary Peterson, and we want to thank you for visiting our profile. We are honored that you’d take the time to read our story. If you would like to give financially, then we say, “thank you” again, but above all else, we ask for your prayers as we undergo funding and complete the adoption process.

Who are we?

Mary and I (J.) live in Vermont where I pastor a small and loving church. Both Mary and I help to serve the children in our area; I help as a substitute teacher in our village’s school and Mary works for the state’s education agency.

After being close friends for several years, Mary and I began dating in 2017 and quickly realized that God was calling us to spend the rest of our lives together. It was during this time that we first discovered our shared passion for adoption.

We got married in 2018, and over the last four years of marriage, Mary and I have loved growing closer to each other and to God. We have enjoyed hiking, snowshoeing, cooking, traveling, and praying together.

Why are we adopting?

Even before we started dating, Mary and I felt a great passion for adoption. Before we even knew who we would marry, God had built in each of us a heart to see children in need brought into a safe and loving home.

As faithful Christians, we believe all life is created by God and precious in His eyes (Gen 1-2). If each life is God’s workmanship, then each life is precious beyond measure. Given that we live in one of the most pro-abortion states, we realize that this is an unpopular belief, but it drives us to seek to do what we can to support those who choose life.

What now?

Now, we are seeking to fulfill God’s call to care for the orphan (Jam 1:27). As we do so, we ask for your help. If you can give, then we are grateful for your gift. Above that, we ask that you pray for us. Pray that God will give us the energy, courage, and perseverance to complete this process. Pray that God will provide the funds we need to follow his direction. And pray that God will give us the wisdom and patience needed to be good parents to the child he is calling us to.
