O’Hickey Family Adoption
Lauren and Trevor OHickey
Del Valle, TX
Hi there, we’re the O’Hickey family!
We are humbly asking our community to help us cover the expenses needed to bring another child into our family through adoption.
We have talked about adoption since we started dating eleven years ago, and it’s never left our mind or hearts. We have welcomed three beautiful biological children and feel that now is the time to extend our love and resources beyond our current family unit.
Our hearts are set on adopting a child with special needs or drug and alcohol exposure. We believe every child deserves to be deeply known, unconditionally loved, and given the chance to thrive. Our hearts are drawn to children who may be overlooked or face greater challenges, and we feel called to provide a stable, nurturing home where they are cherished and supported. With a strong foundation of faith, a close-knit community, and access to excellent medical and therapeutic care, we’re ready to walk alongside a child with compassion, joy, and lifelong commitment.
Our future child could have many different types of special needs, including genetic conditions like Down syndrome, in-utero drug or alcohol exposure, etc. We trust God to orchestrate our match, and look forward to meeting the physical and emotional needs of this child, although we know it will be challenging (as are many things that are worth it)
We are not saviors. We are nothing more than a vessel for an outpouring of love on a child who is fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God.
Our heart is fully in it, but the cost is large. Between agency fees, homestudy fees, legal fees, medical and psychological evaluations, immigration approval, travel, and more we will be spending upwards of $75,000. This does not include the cost of medical care and therapies that our new child will require once we bring them home. We are actively saving and fundraising (Trevor is planning to run a marathon!), and we will be applying for grants once our homestudy is approved.
We truly appreciate every dollar of support our community is able to provide. It is tangibly changing the future of a vulnerable child. Donating through this page is a great way to help. We have chosen Adoption Bridge because they are a 501c3, which allows donors to make tax deductible donations, as well as having a low fee (3% of the donation) to cover payment processing costs. We also have a Venmo set up that does not take any fees, and we can accept checks via mail. Sharing this page with others who might want to help is also a huge blessing.
We ask finally for ceaseless prayers for our family, including our future child, as we navigate this journey.
Our deepest thank you,
The O’Hickeys
