McKinney Adoption

After taking in Baby as a 2-month old through Safe Families, a faith-based respite care provider with a 97% reunification rate, birth mom chose to place Baby for adoption after a few months and specifically requested that we adopt him.

So now we happily find ourselves in the process of adoption, rather unexpectedly, and are faced with the steep cost of funding it. Colorado is what’s called an agency state, meaning that you cannot simply hire an attorney to handle the adoption, even though it’s “designated”, meaning the mom has asked us to adopt him. It must go through an adoption agency and their processes and, frankly, very high fees.
