Colten and Kate’s Adoption Journey

We got married in 2018, just two crazy kids and a dream to have a life together. We always knew we wanted to adopt, we always knew it was expensive, so it always got put off into the someday column. Someday when we're making more money. Someday when we live in a bigger house. Someday. Then we settled into married life, and there our dream sat, in the someday column. Never in a million years did we think we would have to raise money to be able to adopt our baby, we always just assumed we would be able to afford it someday. But one year of marriage, turned into five years of marriage, and now we stand knocking at the door of eight years of marriage. We woke up last year wondering when someday would be... How someday could be? When we began to search for answers to all our questions, we found out how common it was for people to fundraise for adoption. We never felt right with people just giving us money, we knew we wanted to earn it somehow. We wanted people to walk away with value added to their lives for supporting us. We sold chocolate covered strawberries, tshirts and tote bags, and photographed family photos, all with the goal to try and add value to other people's lives for adding value to ours by supporting our adoption journey. And because of the people who chose to support us, maybe our someday is right around the corner.
