Bringing Home a Goodpaster
Jessica and Nathan
Lexington, Kentucky
We are the Goodpaster Family (Nathan, Jessica, and son Jack). In March 2016, we both felt like God was calling us to adopt. After much prayer and research, we decided to move forward with an adoption from China. We are both excited and terrified at the same time (much like when we first found out we were pregnant with Jack!), but we know that God is in control of this situation. Plus Jack will be an amazing big brother!
We now have a completed home study, meaning that we went through the training, meeting, and background screening requirements to bring an adoptive child into our family. Our approval was for a child from China, age birth to three with mild to moderate special needs.
Adoption is expensive, and there are times in our life that we would let that be an insurmountable hurdle. God doesn't call the equipped, but he equips the called. So we know that he will provide the funding and logistics to make it all possible. We have already paid for some expenses out of our pocket. We are also applying for grants and will probably do some sort of fundraising. Now we want to give our friends and family a chance to support us as well. Just as God called us to parent this child, he may be calling some of you to help us bring the child home. Know that we appreciate all the prayers, encouragement, and any financial support you can give.
Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. --James 1:27 NLT
