Ahava in our Hearts

Hello! We're the Colbert family! Our family was forever changed by adoption 5 years ago when we welcomed our daughter at birth through a domestic adoption.  Two years later we sensed the Lord leading us to begin another process.    My husband was given the word "ahavah" one day while driving and it has been our theme as we walk this journey.  Ahavah is the Hebrew word for love.  It means love in action rather than just the spoken word.  Through all of the trials and setbacks that adoption entails, we have felt this word carry us through and remind us as we daily choose to persevere in love for this child. This second process has been anything but simple for us.  In three years we have walked through 5 different programs in Africa, China, the US and now Taiwan.  We have chased the constant moving target of paperwork requirements and unfortunately lost thousands in savings we had designated toward bringing our child home.  We know God is sovereign and just as we were praying about whether we were done, we were told about a 9 year old boy in Taiwan who needed a family.  After much prayer we decided to begin the process to bring him home.  Just days later my husband's company informed him that after 12 years of employment they were reducing his salary by a third due to new healthcare laws and we had three weeks before the change took effect.  We are trusting God's hand through this time and clinging to His promises and provision as we walk in faith.  We know that He works all things for the good of those who love him and are called according to His purpose.  We pray for this sweet boy and we wait!
