So what do you get when you put a small town boy from southwest Missouri and a big city girl from Phoenix, AZ together? What about when you mix an all white family with a Mexican, Asian-American, and German-Jewish family? You get a lot of fun and a unique family that is ready to embrace you and the baby. Love at first sight...was not part of our story. When I first laid eyes upon my rustic husband, my first thought was, “Wow! He’s hairy.” When I first laid eyes upon my quirky wife, my first thought was, “She’s hot, but a little strange.” And so our story begins. Over the next year of working together as Resident Assistants at Evangel University, our first impressions remained the same, yet our friendship began to grow and so did our love for each other. On August 7, 2010, our official dating relationship began and by September 2, 2011 we became husband and wife. We have chosen adoption not because of infertility, but because we have witnessed the amazing impact it can have on the baby. Children who are adopted get to receive selfless love in such a big way: their birthparents are choosing to put aside what may be their desire for the sake of their child. That’s an amazing, beautiful gift! We hope that the baby will get to know his or her birthparents so that he or she can know firsthand the people who showed such sacrificial love. We are excited to see how God works through this experience in bringing two families together who are centered around a beautiful baby.
