Hello!
Our names are Carl and Kaelin! We want to start off by thanking you for taking the time to look through our book. We can’t imagine how difficult this journey is for you, but we already know that you are making all decisions based on the immense love you have for your child. Please know that whatever you decide, we are here to support you and love you through it, and we appreciate you taking the time to get to know a small part of us through our story.
Carl and I actually started dating (many years ago) in 9th grade. We got married about 13 years ago on a cold day in December, where we made our sweet guests endure an outdoor wedding. We knew we wanted to grow our family through adoption and after 8 years of being married, we were chosen by our son, Campbell’s, amazing birth mom. We adopted him at birth in 2021 and maintain a beautiful, open relationship with his birth family.
We love spending time as a family, riding our bikes, exploring our fun city, and seeing friends and extended family. We love to spend our weekends at the lake or in the mountains and Campbell has begun his own little farm, including 10 chickens and 2 ducks. We try to stay outside as much as possible and use the long greenway trail beside our house to walk, scooter, and ride bikes. We like to stay busy and Campbell is good at keeping us active and on our toes.
When we were ready to grow our family, we knew that pursuing adoption again was our first choice. We have seen the love and support that has come from our families after adopting Campbell and how beautifully we have grown our family by the many wonderful people in Campbell’s birth family as well. Seeing how God can work to bring everyone together to make things work for His good has been humbling. We know firsthand how grief and love can exist at the same time and have learned so much about our capabilities to love through growing our family through adoption the first time. When planning to expand our family, we knew that opening our hearts to this journey again was exactly what we wanted to do.
