Hello friend,
We are Matt and Amy Evanhoe, and we live in the mountains of Virginia. We have one son, Benjiro “Benji,” and one daughter, Sylvia, who is in Heaven. Benji is three years old and has a bright and adventurous personality. As a family, we love spending our free time playing board games, hiking, or watching soccer. Matt particularly enjoys reading science fiction and building trains with Benji, while Amy tends to enjoy movement and a good cup of coffee. Any mode of transportation is Benji’s current fascination. He’s recently been enjoying reading books and wearing hats, especially his favorite - a fedora.
Our faith is the foundation of our lives. We define our values in this phrase: we do our best to Love God, Love Others, Live with Integrity, and Work for Excellence. This is based on our two favorite verses: Micah 6:8 (Matt) and Colossians 3:23 (Amy). Just as God has been faithful to us, we want to live in a way that is faithful to Him. We consider a local Anglican church as our home church, but we thoroughly enjoy visiting other denominations when we travel. The biggest value we could impart to our kids is our faith. We have a prayer we pray over Benji and our future kids nearly every night. We pray that they will be a vessel of peace and a strong warrior of Christ. We want our children to be confident in who they are made to be and in what they believe.
Prior to getting married, we both believed in the importance of adoption, and we knew we wanted to adopt someday. We weren’t exactly sure when we might pursue it, however adopting was a priority for us and was our desire for our family. After our daughter was stillborn in 2024, we felt the gentle push to open our home and grow our family through adoption.
