Vet for Adoption

There are only a handful of dreams that tend to follow people throughout their lives. For me, even from a young age, I knew that I wanted three main things in life- a relationship with God, to be a veterinarian, and to have children. Praise be to God that I have been blessed with the first two already!
I came to know Christ at a young age in 3rd grade! Though that relationship has grown and evolved much deeper of the past 30-ish years, it has remained at the heart and soul of who I am and how I live every day. I sometimes still can't believe that God allowed me the grace to accomplish my career dreams of becoming a veterinarian as well! It was a very hard, long road that took me all over the world, but I am living that dream today thanks to God's direction!
However, as time moves on, and the prospect of a husband hasn't made itself known, the window of opportunity of that third dream seems to gradually be getting more narrow, despite all of the efforts that have been going into that dream.
Thus, the Lord has lead me instead to adiption, a decision that is roughly 7 years in the making! I believe that part of what makes adoption so beautiful is that two families in need of eachother come together to make something even more whole and beautiful! It mirrors God's love splendedly! These types of miracles are some of the most precious, and I am praying that God continues to lead me every step as I walk down this path. I may not be starting this journey with a husband, but I praise Jesus that I'm definitely not walking it alone!
Behind me are both of my parents, who currently live with me and are stilled happily married after 43 years! My brother and his family are also very pro- nieces and nephews! My extended family includes over 10 cousins, a couple of which have personal experience with adoption, and many of which live just a car ride away. My best friend and her family live on my street, and we meet up at least once every week! Her whole family is a very tight knit of friends and siblings that have been there for me since the 3rd grade, and whom all live within an hour drive from me! Then there's also my church, which is small, but a dedicated and loyal group that would drop everything in an instant to help pick up their brother or sister in Christ.
The more that I am learning about parenthood and adoption, the more that I genuinely appreciate the fact that it truly is a village that raises a child, and I'm so grateful because I absolutely love my village! I simply can't wait to meet my future child and share the love of this group with him/her as well!
