Kochie Family Embryo Adoption

We are Michael and Catherine Kochie.  We have desired to have a family for a long time and hoped to have biological children soon after we were married 6 1/2 years ago, but God had other plans for us.  Three years ago, God brought two beautiful foster kids into our lives and home. Though we hoped to adopt them, last summer their case took an unexpected turn and they returned to live with their birth mother.  After a period of grieving, we began to explore the possibility of an embryo adoption and God led us to Nightlight Christian Adoptions.  We were drawn to embryo adoption for many reasons, one of which is the fact that the adoption is finalized before an embryo transfer even takes place.  Catherine has also always desired to experience pregnancy and the joy of bonding with a child from before birth.  As we learned more information about embryo adoption through our home study, we discovered that there are around 1,000,000 embryos in frozen storage, waiting for the opportunity to grow in a mothers' womb.  We are so excited to be a part of giving one (or more!) embryos a chance at life and for welcoming them into our family!

Thankfully, the cost for an embryo adoption is much less than a traditional domestic adoption, however it is beyond our financial means as teachers.  The total cost will be around $24,000 for the adoption and home study fees and medical procedures.  We are working hard to take on more work to fund our adoption but we also knew we needed the support of friends and family as we began this process.
