Kate and Derrick's Adoption Adventure

         Thank you so much for visiting this site. We are using this site in the hopes of relieving some of the financial strain of adoption so that we are not in debt when a child graces our lives. Derrick and I have been trying to start our family for over five years and we have come to discover that naturally was not going to happen for us. I believe that God has a plan for us to have our forever family and that plan is adoption.  We have both thought about adoption as a way to grow our family before we began to have infertility struggles. Especially as a teacher, I have always had a soft spot in my heart for foster and adoptive children and felt that someday that would be part of God’s plan for us. We also have two friends who were adopted and have learned all about their lives growing up and how we want that as a part of our lives too. We did struggle with infertility, and tried hormone therapy for about 2 years, but decided to stop treatments and choose the adoption journey to grow our family.
      I believe that we would bring a child up in a happy, fun and healthy home.  We both try to live healthy lifestyles by eating good foods, exercising, spending time outdoors and learning new things.  We both enjoy nature and traveling to new places.  We plan to visit most of the national parks and hope to show our child the beauty of nature and the world around them.  Derrick enjoys all kinds of sports from mountain biking and camping to golf and team sports. I love the outdoors too, walking running, or just sitting on my porch with my pets watching the world. We like playing games, especially trivia, and would expose the child to all kinds of educational experiences.  We love going to museums, science centers, zoos, or anything that broadens our horizons. Whatever our child would be into, we would support them.  Growing in life with Derrick and I, there would never be a dull moment and a child would learn the importance of everything the world has to offer.  We con not wait to have our child in our lives.
