Dear Expectant Mother,
We are thankful that God has placed this letter in your hands. We're blown away by your bravery and humbled by your courage in taking this loving step toward adoption for your baby. We trust that God will move you to place your baby into a family where he/she will thrive and we know that he/she will be a huge blessing to the family who is fortunate enough to raise him/her up. We would be honored to get to know you and your story and we would love to create a strong relationship with you.
We are Xavier and Hilary. We have been married for five years and we live in a historic house on a lively street in the city. We met in high school, dated through college, and got married shortly after. We started a business together 4 years ago and now we work together every day. We complement each other well and work hard to hear, understand, encourage, and motivate each other both at work and at home. Our favorite part of the job is the flexibility that comes with owning our own business-- We always have the power to take time off and spend it with loved ones when it is important. We get more time together and at home than the average couple and we daydream about using that time and flexibility to be sure that we are both at every soccer game, dance recital, school play, etc. to cheer on our children.
Our journey to adoption began when Hilary was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in 2018. Her breast cancer was detected very early (stage 1a at time of surgery) and was easy to treat, but after Hilary's treatment we decided it would not be wise to attempt to grow our family biologically. It felt clear to us that God was calling us to adoption and we hope to grow a larger family through adoption over the next few years. Some of our friends and family members are currently in the adoption process and we are looking forward to our adopted children having cousins and neighbors who were adopted as well.
We have experienced a lot of pain together over the last few years and through that pain we have learned a lot about what we believe in and hope for. We believe in treating others with love and grace. We believe in working hard and living with purpose and integrity. We believe in finding joy in the midst of pain and facing hardship with strength and courage. We believe a full life includes joy, laughter, and celebration. Most importantly, we believe in pursuing God in all that we do.
We are open to any level of communication you feel comfortable with. We would love to facilitate a relationship with you through pictures and letters and/or we would be more than happy to maintain a more open relationship with you as well. We respect your choice to do what is best for you and your baby. We are praying for you as you make these tough choices and praying for a life full of joy and hope for your child.
