Hi! We are TJ and Karlie. First let us express our admiration to you for your courage and selflessness in considering adoption. Know that we have been praying for you for a long time. We are so thankful you are taking the time to read our letter!
Our journey began when we met in college. We began dating after knowing each other for about a year, and God quickly showed us that we were meant for each other. We were married in the summer of 2004.
From the beginning of our relationship we knew adoption would play a role in our family at some point. In March of 2013, God allowed us to become parents when we adopted our daughter, Morgan. She is now an energetic and loving 4 year old who loves to learn, dance, and play. She has been praying for a younger brother or sister for over a year! We have a wonderful open relationship with her birth parents, and we are so blessed and humbled to see the family that God has created through adoption. We love our relationship with them and hope to have to a similar relationship with a future birth family.
TJ started his career in education, and served for 10 years in roles ranging from a classroom teacher to a junior high principal. After Morgan was born, God led TJ to make a career change that allowed him to better provide for our family. He now works for a large oil and gas company, and works a schedule that allows for a great deal of time at home and allows for involvement in our kids activities. Karlie's dream job was always to become a stay-at-home mom, and when Morgan was born that dream became a reality. Prior to being a mom, she worked at a local photography studio for 6 years. She now puts her design skills to use volunteering for our church and several local businesses, creating t-shirt designs, logos, and digital media.
Some of TJ's hobbies include yard work, woodwork, and cooking. Karlie enjoys being creative, reading, and designing. Ultimately, we just enjoy spending time together as a family. We love to travel and plan on visiting all 50 states and several other countries. We have gotten a small start and have been to fourteen states so far.
Ministry is also a very big part of our lives, and we are very active in our church. TJ serves as a deacon, plays bass guitar, and sings with our praise band. Karlie is a part of our church's media team and teaches Sunday School. We are also very involved with our youth ministry and children's ministry.
Even though they are spread across Texas, Louisiana, and Georgia, our families are very close and enjoy spending time with each other. At a holiday or gathering, you are likely to see a backyard football game, sidewalk chalk drawings, or a gingerbread house building contest. All of our family members are looking forward to another baby!
We are so excited to grow our family through adoption. Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and learn a little about us. Again, know that we have been, and will continue to pray for you and your baby.
