Dear Expectant Parent(s),
While we can't begin to understand the range of emotions you are feeling we want you to know that we honor and respect you as a mother/father and admire you for choosing life and for considering adoption. We have always known that we would grow our family through adoption. We have family and friends who have been on both sides of the adoption process. And even though we can't fully relate to what you're going through we have walked down the road of grief and loss when we lived through the miscarriage of our first child. We now have two biological children and God's whisper of adoption became a loud calling and we decided it was time to explore adoption and discover God's plan for us. During this time we have experienced a spectrum of emotions from fear to pure joy; all which proved to us that this is exactly where we're supposed to be at this very moment.
We met in 2005 towards the end of our time in college. We both had big plans for our exciting careers and neither one of us was really looking for a relationship. But after our first few conversations (and laughs) we both felt like we had known each other for years. There was no denying there was a strong connection and we spent everyday together from that day forward.
We now have been married for over 10 years. We both come from families who love and support each other and value togetherness. Family is the core of who we are and everything we do. We live close by to Renae's family and see them often. We have lots of nieces and nephews and they are all excited for a new cousin to play with. Even though Neil's family isn't local we "see" them weekly on Facetime and get together throughout the year when we can. When we shared the news that we are adopting every family member and friend of ours shared their utmost love and support, which did not suprise us but touched us deeply. Since becoming parents we know the truth in the statement "it takes a village" and we are incredibly grateful for ours.
We live in a 4 bedroom home on a wooded 2 acre lot. We love to be outdoors and play in the treehouse or make s'mores by the fire pit. We love to entertain and host many family and friend bbq's and playdates. The water is close by so we have a number of parks and beaches to choose from on sunny days. We cherish our weekends and really just want to be together.
It is difficult to try and put it all into this one letter but we thank you for taking a few moments to learn about us and our family. We promise to cherish and love your child with our hearts and souls and to provide a safe, happy home and a life with every opportunity possible. We are open to sharing memories and milestones with you but respect your privacy in whatever your choose. We invite you to take a glimpse into our lives, our commitment to each other, and our love for our family. Know that we are praying for you and your sweet baby throughout your pregnancy, that God will fill you with peace in whatever decision you make.
Love, Neil & Renae
