Dear Birth Mother,
I was nervous writing a letter to a woman I had never met but, I realized I know more about you then I thought. Your heart is torn and burdened, yet you want the best for your child and you aren’t sure where that may be. It is humbling to know that you are making such a careful and meticulous decision through sacrifice, love and possible adoption.
My husband and I have always said we wanted to adopt a child. This prayer was in our hearts even before we were married in 2015 and we agreed our 2nd or 3rd child would come from an adoption. When we decided we were ready for children in 2017, we didn’t realize God had a different plan. It turns out that I have endometriosis, cysts and polyps. Even after surgery we were unable to conceive. After lots of prayer, we decided not to pursue in-vitro. God had already told us our child would be waiting through adoption.
Paul and I met in Veterinary school August 2012. Two years later Paul proposed and we were married in August 2015. Paul is a large animal veterinarian: cows, horses, pigs, goats, etc (all the farm animals). I am a small animal veterinarian: dogs, cats and some wildlife. Right now, we have lovable dogs that keep our house energetic and full of life. Someday, we hope to live on land and have cattle and horses. Paul and I love to be outside and active. We live an hour from the Texas Coast and enjoy heading to the beach on weekends or going to our families’ ranches. Paul enjoys hunting and I enjoy hiking and fishing with him. Every spring we head to the mountains to ski and we plan to teach our children the same.
We are active in our church and attend regular service and Bible studies. We are very close with both of our families and most all trips are shared with our parents and/or siblings. We have nieces and nephews who are looking forward to having a new cousin to play with. Paul’s family lives in town with us and they are also very active and enjoy the outdoors. We hope to have an open relationship with you, though it would depend on your comfort level. Thank you for even considering this path of adoption and I pray God leads you to the best decision for you and your child. We are praying for you no matter what decision you make.
Lots of Love and Prayers,
Paul and Haley
