Thank you for taking time to get to know our family! We are so excited to be on the journey to adoption. Though we are anxious to hold our little one in our arms, we are also somberly aware of the decisions that face you. We sincerely respect and admire your decision; and consider it to be the most unselfish act of love that we could ever imagine. A child placed in our home would always be told of their birthparents’ courage in a respectful and loving way.
No one understands the unexpected twists and turns of life like we do. Everything we thought about how our lives would be – ended up quite differently. Michael was married to a woman named Renee. They were married for 12 years and had two beautiful boys, Ryan and Evan. In 2008, Renee lost her battle to breast cancer. Michael was devastated, so were Ryan and Evan who were ages 5 and 3 at the time.
Jessica had heard of Michael’s loss through her brother, Ian. Michael and Ian were good friends who worked together. Through casual conversation, Jessica invited Michael to go her church. They agreed to meet Sunday in the church lobby…and have been sitting next to each other in church ever since!
Jessica was thrilled to become an instant mom to Ryan and Evan! Jessica dove right into motherhood by volunteering at their school, taking them to activities and guiding their faith in God. As the years pressed on, we finally came face-to-face with our infertility. Feeling strongly that God still wanted us to grow our family, we prayerfully considered adoption. When we told our sons of our decision to adopt, they both admitted they hoped to have a little brother or sister one day even though they knew mom’s tummy was “broken”.
Our family is so blessed to live in a family-friendly community, surrounded by wonderful friends and relatives. We live a simple life that consists of the boys’ school activities, youth sports, work, church and Sunday family dinner night with our extended family. Our family and friends, who are aware of our fertility challenges, were delighted that we decided to pursue adoption. Jessica’s mother eagerly offered to watch the baby!
We firmly believe God has a plan and purpose for each and every person. We are certain our plan and purpose includes adoption. We respect your courage as you consider your future plans. We pray that you will feel the comfort of God’s love on your journey.
