Domestic Adoption

The first thing we want to tell you is that even though we haven’t met you, we love you. You are brave and courageous, and we can’t begin to imagine all that you are going through. Adoption is a beautiful and wonderful gift, but also complicated and hard. We are so thankful you are exploring adoption and that we get to tell you a little about ourselves in this book. We are praying for you now, and hope that you find peace and comfort on this journey.

We met in college in 2003, became good friends rather quickly, and started dating in 2006. Adoption was something we talked about a lot when we were dating (even before we discussed marriage!) and it’s been our dream to have a family with both adopted and biological children. We have three wonderful kids: Evelyn (biological, 2011), Jack (adopted, 2015), and Walter (biological, 2017).

We are blessed to live very close to Amy’s parents and many of her siblings, and we travel to visit Marcus’s family every summer. Our parents and siblings are all very supportive of our plans to adopt, and are excited to welcome a new family member.

Marcus is the lead pastor at a small church, and Amy works part time in direct sales. We love to have friends and family to our house (Marcus is a great cook!), play board games, and go on adventures together as a family. We live a few blocks from downtown, and love to walk to the bakery, the library, and the local parks. Our church community is also a big part of our life!  Amy plays piano and leads worship, the kids attend classes, Evelyn sings on the worship team, and we all participate in weekly Community Nights. Marcus also enjoys playing soccer and following sports, and Amy loves to go thrifting and read anything and everything when she has the time.

We hope that you get a glimpse of our hearts in these next pages. We are so excited to welcome a child into our home, to love that child fully, to nurture that child, to ensure that child understands and appreciates where they came from, and to ensure that child loves and appreciates the woman that loved them enough to bring them our family. We promise to honor you and to give this child the best life that we can. We pray that you will be blessed as you make this decision. Please know we care, and wish you peace in this uncertain time.
