Dear Expectant Mother,
My name is Alaina and this is probably the hardest letter I've ever had to write, mainly because I don't know what is going to come of it. I also can't even begin to imagine all the things you are thinking right now as you try to navigate this journey you're on as well. We are both working with lots of unknowns.
A couple of years ago, my husband and I were told by experts and doctors that conceiving a child would be impossible - talk about feeling some heartache and uncertainty! I'm sure youv'e felt similiarly, although probably for different reasons.
We recently moved from the Dallas/Fort Worth area to a small town in west Texas. Jim works at a local dealtership as a Parts Manager and I work as an English teacher and tennis coach for the high school. If we are blessed with a child, I will either stay home or transition to part-time work until our child is school age.
Jim is the introvert - calm and laid back, but super witty and ridiculously funny. I tend to be a little more extroverted, goofy, and animated. We love watching movies and having lazy days. But perhaps our favorite shared hobby is camping and hiking! We help lead a Bible Study group on Sundays at church and we love our church family, they have been such a blessing in our lives. Family is a huge deal to us; we always make a point to be with them - not just on holidays!
Our life together has been anything but boring and it's been a roller coaster but we are so blessed! We so very much want to be parents and grow our family through adoption; we would love to be able to share our adventures and blessings with a child whom we can love and adore.
We would love to meet with you, if that is what you would desire. Depending on your comfort level, we would also love to keep an open relationship with you. However, we respect your privacy and will honor any decision you make, whether that is little or no contact, occasional letters and photos, or as if you were just part of our extended family. As a birth mother making plans for a child, we undertsand that you are in a difficult time in your life and we want you to know that we are here and are praying for you.
