Dear Expectant Mother,

First off, I am grateful that you are choosing life for your child and appreciate you taking the time to consider our family. I hope to give you a taste of who we are as best I can in a limited amount of space.

I know, like you do, that life does not always go as planned. But I hope that you are eventually able to feel some peace with your decision knowing that if you choose us, your child will live in a supportive, stable, loving and Christ-filled home. I also hope that as this heavy decision weighs on your heart, that you can be proud of the choices you are making. I look forward to potentially being a part of your story.

We are pursuing adoption for three main reasons:

1) Adoption, grace and caring for our neighbors is part of our Faith.

2) We have walked beside multiple friends and family members who have been scarred deeply from choosing abortion. We hope to be an answered prayer for one mother choosing life for her child and

3) Hakim grew up in the foster care system, so our family knows first-hand that beauty can be found in imperfect circumstances.

When I first mentioned adoption to Hakim (while we were still dating) he did not even flinch. As our relationship progressed and we prayed for loved ones who chose abortion, we decided that being part of an alternate solution for one expecting mom was important to us. For these reasons, I feel like adoption was placed on my heart (and Hakim’s) even before we met and considered building a family!
