Hi! We are Douglas and Bethany, and we've been married for 3 1/2 years. We met at church, and we were friends for a while before we started dating. So we were the couple that talked about our future kids on the first date. For about three years we struggled with infertility, and other than one miscarriage early on, we have not been able to have biological children. So we began the adoption journey, something we also talked about from very early on.
Doug works in IT at our local university, and Beth works in Human Resources. Beth is looking forward to staying home full time to raise our child. We live in a growing city a couple hours north of Los Angeles, in a friendly neighborhood. We are very involved in our local church and have a strong, happy marriage. We are joyfully anticipating the day we are able to welcome a little one into our warm, loving home. Both of our families are very much looking forward to welcoming a child into our family through adoption.
Our close friends adopted their daughter, and we've seen first-hand how incredible it can be to build a family through adoption. The more we learn about open adoption, the more amazed we are at what a gift it can be for the child. We are open to sharing photos, communicating, visits - whatever level of openness the birth parent is comfortable with. We intend to honor our adopted child's culture and heritage in as many ways as we can.
We pray that God will guide your steps as you consider the difficult decision ahead of you. Thank you for reading this!
