Dear Expectant Mother, Thank you for looking through our book as you consider adoption for your baby. First, we would like to acknowledge the tough decision you are facing and all of the emotions that go along with it. We want you to know that we respect and admire whatever decision you choose. We pray that God gives you peace and wisdom in this difficult time. Ben and I met through a mutual friend while in college. I was in my undergraduate program, and Ben was in his first graduate program. We dated for 4 years before getting engaged and were married a year later. We have now been happily married for 7 years. Looking back, it seems like we have known each other forever, but it also feels like no time at all! We both enjoy adventures, and we always say that our marriage is our greatest adventure so far. We would love to build a family and continue the adventure with a little one! We do not have any children of our own, but we do have two fur babies that think they are human. We have both always had a heart for adoption and knew that we wanted to adopt at least one of our children. We thought we would try to have a biological child first, just because of age, but I had infertility issues. While I was undergoing treatment for infertility, Ben was diagnosed with Fabry’s Disease, a rare genetic disorder that we now had to consider, as we would be passing that on to a child if we were to have one. After much prayer and discussion, we both felt that adoption was the best way for us to grow as a family. Ben and I have many interests that we enjoy doing together. Some of these include cooking, hiking with our dogs, spending time with family, going to concerts and plays, hosting get-togethers, and attending Clemson football games. Our favorite thing to do together is travel. We are great travel buddies and both enjoy exploring new places and cultures. We are both very close with our families and take a family vacation with each side of the family every year. Our families are very supportive of our decision to adopt and can’t wait to welcome a new member into the clan! Our friends and coworkers have also been very supportive. If you are considering our family as an option for your child, please know that we would like to maintain a relationship with you at whatever level you are most comfortable. We would like to celebrate our child’s heritage alongside our own. We promise to love and cherish your child, to raise him or her with a strong sense of identity, positive self-concept, and a heart for God, and to provide every opportunity possible.
